Wu Shan:Drifting
Mar 15 - May 31, 2025
We are pleased to announce that Wu Shan's first solo exhibition in Ginkgo Space, ‘Drifting’, will open on 15 March in Shenzhen.
As a recluse in the contemporary art world, Wu Shan actively isolates himself from the hustle and bustle of reality and constantly searches deep into his heart, which makes his art as quiet and profound as his person. With his almost surrealistic ‘automatic writing’, Wu Shan lets his thoughts roam around the tip of his brush, and his comprehensive aesthetic accumulation enables him to relax and release freely, both consciously and unconsciously. Those restrained lines not only contain rhythm and sound, but also condense his life experience and inner dialogues. He is well versed in the traditional art paradigm, integrating motion and stillness, complexity and simplicity into a single line, so that the unique Chinese lacquer language can be extended and newly interpreted in the contemporary context. From the wandering lines to the spirit of thought, Wu Shan continues to realise the unity of heart and hand. (Article/Poster Design Liang Qing)
