Silence in Gazing

Sep 08 - Oct 28, 2023

Ginkgo Space is honored to announce our inaugural exhibition, "Silence in Gazing", opening on September 8th, 2023, in our new Shenzhen location.

Titled "Silence in Gazing", the exhibition embodies both an objective and subjective artistic perspective. This "attitude" originates both from the viewer and the artist, with the artwork serving as the connecting “link” between them. Artists, as participants and expressers of their times and society, use their pieces to maintain a balanced distance from the real world, navigating between conformity and resistance, thereby evading overwhelming trends.

Based on the concept of "gazing", the artworks in the exhibition subtly transform into a form of "literature" beyond actual literature. This redefines "how to observe" and "how to be observed", as well as "how to think" and "how to be thought about". After being deconstructed and reconfigured by the artist's philosophy, the works surpass physical identification, entirely breaking free from naturalistic visual logic, culminating in a non-experiential objective gaze.

This exhibition is not just a collection of art pieces across a variety of mediums, but a visual exploration, an emotional experience, and a shift in logic and thought under specific circumstances. Compared to techniques and material applications, the greater challenge for the participating artists is "how to convey meaning" and "how to create ambiance". This embodies the true caliber and extended philosophies of the artists. A certain degree of "gazing" is needed to link their innate creativity, imagination, and thought process, resulting in a resonance on a spiritual level.

The exhibition will run until October 28th, 2023.
